2021 Leeward
$ 29.50
Prevailing winds off Washington's coast force oceanic storms into the rugged barrier of the Cascade Mountains. As the moisture rich air collides with the glaciated mountain peaks it cools, condenses and drops precipitation onto the windward side of the range. The resulting climate on the eastern "leeward" side of the mountains - known as a "rainshadow" - is dry and offers long, warm days with cool nights optimal far growing wine grapes. In a state more often noted for rainforests than wine grapes, it is the Cascade rainshadow that makes Washington's world class wine industry possible. A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah grapes , hand-harvested whole clusters de-stemmed to open-top stainless steel fermenters. Manually punched down and pressed to 60 gal. oak barrels. Cellar aged in new French oak barrels for 16 months. A full-bodied red wine with elegant flavors of plum, black currant, fig with dark chocolate and mocha. Ideal for grilled steaks, rich cheese, and dark chocolate
